LIMP BIZKIT: New Album Is Done

July 28, 2003

LIMP BIZKIT have completed work on their much-delayed, still-untitled fourth album, tentatively due in September or October. "It's done," Fred Durst told Rolling Stone. "There's eighteen songs, and I'd like to get them all on there."

New guitarist Mike Smith (ex-SNOT) co-wrote some of the tracks after the band decided to scrap a finished album's worth of material and start afresh this spring. "It's heavy," Smith said, "but it also has some spacier, psychedelic moments, like JANE'S ADDICTION."

"There are so many ups and downs," Durst explained. "The saddest song is called 'Drown'. It's about realizing it's getting close to the end. Things are getting crazy. It's my cry for someone to save me before I drown."

One of the songs LIMP BIZKIT have been playing on their current tour, "Stick 'Em", is so heavy that Durst says he expects it to be "legally pursued and banned." "It's about fighting," he said. "You've got a chamber inside your brain, and it's locked up, and you've got chains on it. You just hope nobody sets it loose, because if they do, you know . . . that's when things turn for the worse."
